Rash - An Illustrated Novella
~From Kickstarter.com
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Rash, Wyoming.
A quiet town, made up of simple, quiet folk. A town where children still play outside until dark. A town where everyone knows everyone else. A town that still believes in the innate goodness of people. A town that has the unfortunate fate of being only twenty miles from the Nebraska border town of Stark.
Rash, Wyoming.
A town that will bleed like no town has ever bled before.
But, in Rash is a man that knows the evils of Stark and knows why the violent horror that has left its streets filled with blood is now spilling over into the bucolic paradise of Rash. And this man, the man from Rash, will be shoulders deep in that blood before he can set things right. But, will his blood be part of that river of death? Will he set things right? Or will the bloody violence from Stark take him down?
Author Jake Bible, the mind that brought you DEAD MECH, The Americans and Bethany And The Zombie Jesus, now brings you the second of three illustrated tales of sociopathic horror and violence. Rash takes the horror and violence of Stark and turns it into a whirlwind of terror and bloodshed which will leave you wishing you’d never turned the pages.
Be warned, Rash shouldn’t be read. Rash shouldn’t have been written. Rash shouldn’t be allowed to soil the landscape of American literature.
Rash should be banned, burned and wiped off the face of the planet.

Ryan Reynolds IS the New Highlander!
The rumors appear to be true: Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Connor MacLeod in Juan Fresnadillo's Highlander remake, after what The Tracking Board is calling "roughly a month of negotiations." It's the same role that made Christopher Lambert a star back in 1986. Since Ryan Reynolds is already a star, we have to assume that this new Highlander will turn him into Christopher Lambert.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is directing the remake after cutting his teeth on films like Intacto, 28 Weeks Later and Intruders. The plot, as if you didn't know, follows a small group of immortals throughout the centuries as they duel each other to win the ultimate prize: which turned out, in the original film, to be mortality. Which is really kind of odd, if you think about it. They're fighting each other to the death... for the ability to die? They already can die, so they're just fighting to be allowed to grow old and then die? It must be one of those "grass is always greener" things.
Though well-liked by most, Ryan Reynolds has had some difficulty segueing from comedian to action star. Blade Trinity bombed, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has few fans, Green Lantern should be spoken of as little as humanly possible and Safe House, while successful, benefitted from Reynold's high profile co-star. It's been argued, however, that Reynolds was not the fundamental problem with any of the above films. With Fresnadillo at the helm, will Highlander be the action franchise he's been looking for all these years?

New TOTAL RECALL Trailer includes 3-breasted Woman!
There's been one question fans have had about the new Total Recall movie since it was greenlit. Not, "Will this film make me question the nature of reality and whether people are the sum of their memories?" But rather, "Will there still be a sex worker with three breasts?" (As we've covered in the past, this is an essential element of many great science fiction sagas.)
Now, you need wonder no longer. The latest trailer for Total Recall (below) includes a sassy lady who promises Colin Farrell, "You're going to wish you had three hands." Also, Kate Beckinsale is pretty great in the Sharon Stone role, even doing a similar aerobics-based attack on Farrell, and quipping, "What can I say? I give good wife." It looks like it'll be closer to Paycheck than to one of the top tiers of Philip K. Dick movies, but it still could be a fun romp.

Nadia G's Accent
Where does Nadia G's accent come from? Some of you may be kept awake at night with this burning question. You may feel angry, confused and alone... If this is the case, you need help my friend. But if you're just wondering about the accent, here's the deal:
Nadia G(iosia)'s parents immigrated from Italy to Montreal, Quebec in the 1950's. Her father came from Guglionesi, Campobasso, where they speak a dialect of 'Mulise'. Her mom hails from Torrice -- a small town in Frosinone where they speak their own dialect of 'Torriciano'.
Fast forward a coupla decades, and G is born in Montreal, Quebec, a French-Canadian city. But make no mistake, the French spoken in Montreal is a far cry from the gutteral French one hears in France. "Quebecois" is to Parisian French what the Southern Drawl is to British English. Onwards.
Now, here comes the fun part: G grew up in St. Leonard, an Italian neighbourhood where folks don't just have a peculiar Italian-Montreal accent, they created a whole freakin' language, bro! A dialect which is colorful, and at times cringe-worthy. St. Leonard is a burough where back yards aren't gardens, they're tomato factories. Its a town where Civics were the vehicle of choice in the 90's, and 'Rhythm is a Dancer' blasted through the souped-up speakers (...which were worth more than the car). Its a town where people named Joe, Mary, Tina and Gino eat cutlet "sangwiches" and live with their parents until they're 40. Where the boys are clean shaven, and in certain cases we wish we could say the same for the girls.
Anyways, the point is: when Nadia speaks you'll hear glimmers of these influences: French, Italian, 'St. Leonard-ese', depending on how flustered she is. ...And sometimes, if you listen really closely, you can also hear dolphins cry. It's a beautiful thing.
Nadia G. Dishes On Her Hunger for Life
A Canadian-born Italian who speaks English, Italian and French, Nadia's bad-girl image, sense of humor, quick wit and "Casalinga-style cuisine" have made her the "Julia Child of the Net generation".
After the jump, she talks about receiving Logo's NewNow Next Award for "Most Addictive Reality Star".

Unprecedented Maya Mural Found, Contradicts 2012 "Doomsday" Myth
In addition to a still vibrant scene of a king and his retinue, the walls are rife with calculations that helped ancient scribes track vast amounts of time. Contrary to the idea the Maya predicted the end of the world in 2012, the markings suggest dates thousands of years in the future.

Plot Details Revealed for King's 'The Shining' Sequel
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special twelve-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and tween Abra Stone learns, The True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the "steam" that children with the "shining" produce when they are slowly tortured to death.
Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel where he spent one horrific childhood year, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father's legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant "shining" power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes "Doctor Sleep."
Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan's own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra's soul and survival. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted readers of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Video of the Day: A Capella Cover of Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites by Skrillex
As many of you know, my latest musical obsession is Dubstep. Imagine my surprise when I realized that many talented people are recording A Capella versions, a la Mike Thompkins, of songs from this new, wildly popular music genre. Like me (if you've ever heard Dubstep before), you probably thought it impossible to be able to make sounds like that using only your voice! Well, not only can Aaron do it, he sounds amazing! If you're not familiar with the song, you can play Aaron's cover and the original song side by side here. You won't believe how close his version sounds to the original!
Aaron knows that some of his facial expression are "amusing". He says, "If you HATE them then you never had a childhood". He also admits, "some sounds are ridiculous, but that's as close as I could get!". But get past all that, and what you'll have left is a clever, unique, fantastically talented guy who, in my opinion, likely has a very successful musical career ahead of him.
Aaron's sister Astrid, who is also a talented singer, is featured in a couple of his videos, which you can see here.

Somebody That I Used To Know
Before today, I had never heard the song Somebody That I Used to Know, or of the artist that sings it for that matter. But then late this afternoon, Rachel posted a cover version by Pentatonix on her blog. (Ironically, I know and love Pentatonix. They won last season's The Sing-Off reality TV competition.) I watched the Pentatonix video and immediately fell in love with the song.
A short while after that, I was watching tonight's episode of Glee and guess what song I heard? You betcha!! Somebody That I Used to Know!!!
So now I had heard two very different cover versions of the song but had still not yet heard the original, so I looked it up on YouTube.
Now, I am in love with three different versions of the song and I don't know which one I love the most! So I'm going to post them here for you to watch & listen. Which one do you like the best? The least? Or do you not like the song at all?
What I do know is that all three versions are going on my MP3 player because I just can't decide!

Everyone's Mixtape
Everyone’s Mixtape takes us back to those glory days. Virtual mixes are restricted to 60, 90, or 120 minutes (fantastically old school), though you can add any song from YouTube, SoundCloud and Vimeo with a simple drag and drop (VERY new school). Just be sure to create an account first so you can save all your mixes!
Add songs to a tape until the site tells you it's full, rearrange the play order for optimal impact and then share it with the world via Facebook and Twitter, or with a single person via email.
Sure, it's not as personal as handing it to them, but it's a heck of a lot more convenient.
